I don't know about you... but when you need to eat gluten free, the craving for pizza can be tough. Usually the gluten free pizza crusts available at your local pizza place just doesn't taste good. It's bland, crumbly, and it simply does not accentuate the flavor of the pizza toppings.

But hey, you now live in a world where Liteful Foods exists. And in this world you can use our very own delicious gluten free flatbread to make amazing pizza, or even a simple tapas-style flatbread. The flatbread creativity lies in your hands, but keep reading below to see how we loaded up our yummy flatbread.

Ingredients:

  • 2 pc Liteful Foods Flatbread, each cut in 1/2
  • 1-14 oz jar marinara or pizza sauce
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1/2 cup chopped red bell peppers
  • 1/2 cup cherry tomatoes
  • 1 pound mozzarella log thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup of chopped olives
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp Italian Seasoning
  • Salt/pepper to taste

Prep Time:

10 minutes

Cook Time:

35 minutes

Step 1

Pre-heat oven to 450.

Step 2

Heat olive oil using a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the onions and cook until they turn slightly brown (about 4 minutes) then add the peppers.

Step 3

Once the peppers are nice and soft (about 3 minutes) add the ground Venison, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.  Brown the meat until you see no pink (usually about 8 minutes).

Step 4

While the meat is browning slice your mozzarella into thin slices. You will use about 6 slices per flatbread. Chop the olives and cut the cherry tomatoes in half (extra credit for chopped basil or pesto on top!).

Step 5

Lets build! Start with your four pieces of flatbread on a sheet pan (if you like a crispy crust bake for 2-3 minutes before you start building) top with 1/3 cup of sauce for each one (I start with that and add more after I have sauce on all pieces). Use about 1/2 of a cup of cooked Venison per piece of flatbread. Top with mozzarella, cherry tomatoes, and olives.

Step 6

Bake for 10-12 minutes. Check to be sure cheese is melted and then cook for an additional 3-5 minutes.

Step 7
Remove from oven and let cool for a few minutes. Then enjoy!
